Boardspace.net's Wildcard joins the 2008 IAGO World Tour
Go here for info:
http://boardspace.net/cgi-bin/tournament-signup.cgi?tournamentid=10
This event is a single elimination event. In it the loser of the last game, picks a new game that has not been played yet. It is called a "Wildcard" because the game list isn't set at the start. It joins Cannon as another event in December 2007.

Pool Checkers joins The 2008 IAGO World Tour!
Pool Checkers will be part of the 2008 IAGO World Tour. It will be in Chicago on July 13-19, 2008. The Tournament name is:
"The American Pool Checkers Association’s 42nd Annual National Tournament"
Check out either of these two pages for more information:
http://www.hspccc.com/apcachi08.htm
or here:
http://home.comcast.net/~homansquare/wsb/html/view.cgi-home.html-.html
For those who don't know what Pool Checkers is, it is a version of checkers that had origins in Europe, but gained popularity in America. The checkers can jump backwards and the king pieces have greater mobility than standard checker kings.

Diceless Backgammon
One LARGE debate point in the planning of IAGO is what games would be included or not. Backgammon is one of those games people have argued against, because of the dice. Well, there has been multiple attempts to create a diceless version of backgammon. One of the more interesting variants, in my opinion is NC-Backgammon (No Chance Backgammon). In this game, players can choose to double a set amount of times in a game. If they don't do this, then they alternate picking a die and using what their opponent picked last. The concept is very interesting. I will leave it to others to decide for themselves. Visit this site for more information on NC-Backgammon: http://zarsiztavla.gop.edu.tr/index-e.htm
NC-Backgammon is a game that is officially registered with IAGO:
http://abstractgamers.org/wiki/registered-games
I am personally interested in having NC-Backgammon as part of the IAGO World Tour.

IAGO site has new graphics up.
I want to thank everyone who worked on this for getting it done. Thank you all. To see the new site, please go to:
http://www.abstractgamers.org
Everyone did a great job with it. More functionality will be needed later. As of now, the basics are there. The Forums, Wiki and news here are elsewhere, and not integrated with the rest of the look and feel. But hey, we are up!
